Celebrities invade Park City for Operation Smile charity event
PARK CITY, Utah (ABC4) – Park City looked a little more like Hollywood as celebrities gathered for a charity event in Park City this weekend.
Operation Smile 10th Annual Celebrity Ski & Smile Challenge started at the St. Regis Deer Valley and Deer Valley Resort to raise money for children with cleft lip and palate.
Since 1982, Operation Smile is a global non-profit organization that provides specialist, expert cleft surgery and care. The non-profit organization provides “medical expertise, research and care through our dedicated staff and medical and student volunteers around the world, working alongside local governments, non-profit organizations and systems of health and supported by our generous donors”.
The star-studded event brought together celebrities such as Rebel Wilson, Henry Golding, Dionne Warwick, Evan Ross, Taylor Kinney, Brooke Burke, Michael Trevino, Andrew Zimmern and more.
Activities included a one-on-one dual slalom race with each team consisting of one celebrity skier and four amateur skiers/Operation Smile donors. The winning team was rewarded with a post-race awards luncheon.
After a day on the slopes of Park City, the celebration ended with a performance by Dionne Warwick singing her iconic hit, “What the World Needs Now”.
The evening auction of the event raised over $300,000 for Operation Smile’s ongoing efforts to bring cleft lip surgery to people around the world.
“Operation Smile is committed to providing patients with lasting health through life-saving cleft surgeries and comprehensive care, helping them to breathe, eat, speak and live better, more confident lives. Our training and education programs raise safe surgical standards and strengthen a global network to reach more people earlier in life.
