Famous £3million Harrogate charity event postponed to 2022

One of Harrogate’s most spectacular charity events – The Firecracker Ball in 2018 hosted an in-person performance by pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Described as a tough decision to make,” the committee organizing the ball felt unable to safely go ahead with the annual charity event, which is usually held at the Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate each November.

“We have reluctantly decided that the 2021 Firecracker Ball will be postponed to 2022, when we can host our usual spectacular event.

“The decision was a difficult one, as the generous funds and donations we receive from the event have never been more important to Barnardo’s.

“We are careful to do our best to raise as much as possible through other means at such a difficult time for everyone, but we cannot do this without support and we know the young people Barnardo cares for need of our help even more than usual at this time, as the challenges they are already facing are exacerbated by the lockdown isolation and the current situation.

“We launched a JustGiving appeal page last year where people can donate. We are grateful to anyone who can support. No donation is too small as it all ensures that Barnardo’s can continue to provide crucial care for vulnerable young people.

“Our hope is to raise another wonderful amount of money in this difficult year to go to Barnardo’s vital work in Yorkshire.

“Since 2002 we have raised over £3million for Barnardo’s work to reach vulnerable children and young people.

“We’ll be back with a live Firecracker Ball in 2022 and until then we hope everyone stays safe.”
