Four teenagers arrested after police chase in Ashton – Quest Media Network

Four teenagers suspected of burglary have been arrested and two stolen vehicles have been recovered following a police chase in Ashton.

Earlier this month officers spotted two ‘suspicious’ vehicles driving along Newmarket Road in the town.

Police believe one of the vehicles was stolen in a burglary that night and the other was used in a burglary the night before.

The occupants of one of the vehicles – three teenagers – abandoned one of the cars and regrouped in the second after officers pulled up behind them.

GMP released body camera footage of the chase that ensued before the car was abandoned on Thirlmere Avenue and the teenagers fled on foot.

Officers chased them through various streets, gardens and football pitches before arresting four teenagers. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary and have all been released on bail pending further investigation.

The vehicle was found and confirmed to have been stolen in a burglary minutes earlier in the Hurst area that evening.

GMP says an investigation is still ongoing.

Sergeant Luke Summerfield, of GMP’s Tameside District, said: “Burglary is an incredibly intrusive and upsetting crime for those who are sadly victimized and we are committed to ensuring that those responsible for these crimes are identified and brought to justice. in justice.

“Thanks to an excellent team effort that evening, we were able to arrest four men suspected of burglary and recover two stolen vehicles. Our investigation is currently ongoing and I encourage anyone with information or video footage to contact the police as soon as possible.”
