Free online training course for dementia caregivers
Story published on
Family carers of people with dementia in Wiltshire are invited to a free online training course from this summer.
Managed by Alzheimer’s Support, the six weekly sessions, starting July 13, will take place on Wednesday mornings in the comfort of caregivers’ homes.
The charity’s Community Services Coordinator, Kate Sharpe, said: “We’re delighted to bring this course online and don’t worry if you’ve never used the technology before. We can help people connect as long as they have a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
“Participants will gain information that will benefit their lives and the lives of the person they are caring for. It’s very friendly and relaxed. Just being able to discuss ideas with others with similar circumstances can be a welcome relief.
The course aims to help participants understand what their relative or friend may be going through as their type of dementia develops. Sessions are led by experts in their field and cover all aspects of caring for someone with dementia, including managing problems at home, legal and financial aspects of care, moving and safer assistance, and care options.
