Newcastle United open loan talks with Real Madrid for Chelsea target Eden Hazard
According to the Spanish media central defense (h/t daily star), Newcastle United have entered talks with Real Madrid to discuss a loan move for Eden Hazard, who is also a transfer target for Chelsea. His move to the Santiago Bernabeu was a flop, and a change of scenario could help him find his form at Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle are looking to boost their stature next summer and have identified Danger as a tool to make a statement. They opened negotiations with Los Blancos as a result, the Blues vying with them for his signature. However, the latter has yet to make any formal demands, leaving the Toons to run the race at this time.
The Madrid club are ready to accept offers for the Belgian as they want to release a large part of the £400,000 per week salary he currently earns. With Kylian Mbappe expected to join a free transfer this summer, they want to free up salaries to bring Erling Haaland to his side.
What’s next for Hazard?
The 31-year-old appears to be in line to reach the end of his playing days with the Spanish club. He has hardly seemed to be at his best since leaving us for a £100 million back in 2019. Perhaps a return to the Premier League could help him regain his lost form, much like Philippe Coutinho did recently at Aston Villa.
Thomas Tuchel’s side haven’t made any formal attempt and are just considering their options at the moment. With the Magpies entering the race, we need to make our case if there are any active plans to advance La Liga at the club in the summer transfer window.
Given that Eddie Howe’s side have already made their choice, we can’t sit idly by as they might get ahead of us in their bid to sign the Real Madrid ace. That being said, we cannot agree to take back even half of his salary, given the risks involved in a potential move.

After all, the Belgium international has been far from his best for some time and has also struggled with injury issues. That being said, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side looking to part ways with his wages, we might struggle to facilitate a transfer.
However, one could try to convince the Real Madrid striker to take a pay cut to return to his former club. It would be in the best interest of all parties. But with the Magpies in the fray, we would need to beat them to make our point. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.
