NGO Literacy Training for Outstanding Primary School Teachers and Educators – The Sun Nigeria

Some outstanding elementary school teachers and educators will benefit from Universal Learning Solutions (ULS) intensive training for dedicated teachers and government officials across the country.

As part of this effort, a non-profit organization, Universal Learning Solutions and Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) organized a three-day training in specialized literacy teaching practices called “Jolly Phonics”. for teachers in Osun State.

Mr. Patrick Uzu, Nigeria Country Director at Universal Learning Solutions, in a statement released to reporters in Abuja, said he would equip teachers with the expertise and tools to enable them to transform Primary 1 students, 2 and 3 in state public schools. .

Mr. Patrick Uzu, said teacher training started for 2625 primary school teachers as well as 50 civil servants from Monday May 9th to 11th in Osun State.

The executive director added that the training is taking place at 6 training centers across the state, reaching teachers from all 30 local government areas.

Executive Director Ms Foxcroft said, “Osun State Jolly Phonics is a fantastic opportunity for all children in Osun State to benefit from the opportunity to learn to read and write. The project will therefore contribute to increasing equity and equal opportunities for all children in Osun State.

According to him, Jolly Phonics is a fun and interactive educational tool that uses the Synthetic Phonetic Literacy teaching methodology. Added that synthetic phonics is mandated or recommended by governments around the world because of how quickly it provides children with the skills needed to read and write.
