Paisley: Charity Kibble offers staff training program

A charity in RENFREWSHIRE is looking to recruit people from all walks of life for its staff training programme.

Kibble – a specialist service provider for at-risk youth – saw its annual number of recruits double in response to the success of the initiative.

The charity’s staff training course provides extensive on-the-job training as well as a college-level education for one year while earning a salary.

Those who complete the 12-month course will be guaranteed an interview for a position, with a salary of over £28,000 and further career development opportunities.

Previous recruits include former warehouse worker Neil Buie, who entered the industry with no previous experience and has now been in his training program for three months.

He said: “I think one of the main challenges facing the sector is the perceived lack of accessibility to jobs due to certain specialties or skills that might be required, but I am living proof that this is not is not the case.

“I was working in a warehouse before I decided to take the plunge and apply for Kibble’s staff training program.

“I couldn’t believe when I got the call that I had passed and was going to do a full year of vocational and university training – all while getting paid.

“Then having the opportunity to interview for a full-time position and further my career with Kibble. The program has completely changed my life.”

Jim Gillespie, CEO of Kibble, said: “Our staff training program provides an accessible pathway for future caregivers in the sector with financial, training and educational support provided by Kibble along the way.

“Becoming a child and youth worker is such a rewarding career path for someone, it’s a privilege to be a consistent adult in a young person’s life and to motivate them to look positively towards the future. .

“We really want to get the message across that there are no industry-specific skill or education requirements – we recruit based on a set of values and provide any additional training needed to fulfill the roles of vacant caregivers within the association.”

Kibble is hosting a recruitment event with Invest in Renfrewshire at the Russell Institute on Monday, October 17, from 1-4 p.m.
